Ana Poirier, the founder of Devana Wellness, is a certified holistic health counselor, dedicated yoga instructor, natural foods chef, health educator and writer. She is passionate about supporting others to flourish in mind, body and spirit. She is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City and accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.

Ana has been working in the healing arts since 1999 and believes in an integrated approach. Her study of nutrition, yoga, bodywork and meditation has given her an understanding of the synergistic power of a multi-disciplined approach, which has transformed her own life. She finds great value in using this approach in her work with others.

Having begun with one-on-one health counseling and group yoga classes, Ana has found her more recent work with groups in a workshop format to be equally fulfilling. In addition to teaching workshops, she gives lectures, holds cooking classes, leads wellness programs and continues to do individual coaching both in person, by phone and online. In her health counseling programs, Ana specializes in cleansing and detoxification, digestive health, stress management, healthy cooking, women's health, healthy weight management and sustainable healthy living practices.

 

Ana first began teaching yoga after realizing the profound effect her daily practice had on her health and well-being. While living and working at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, she mentored with Esalen's primary yoga teacher and went on to study with Sarah Powers in the Yin/Yang style of yoga. She enjoys drawing from multiple yogic disciplines that allows her teaching style to be intuitive and individualized. Her public classes focus on a “slow flow” which integrates a continuous attention to one’s breath, core and alignment.

 

Her true inspiration comes from being in nature. It is here that she finds a deeper connection to herself as well as to this earth. She finds this deep connection to nature to be profoundly healing. Whenever possible, she looks to include communing with nature as part of her work with others.
